On Tuesday, March 26, Scott Schultz, USTA-U managing director, discussed the benefits of Professional Tennis Management master’s programs and how they can give you a competitive advantage in your tennis career.
In addition, guest speaker Jeff Campbell, from San Diego State University’s Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) master’s program, shared information about the SDSU program, including details about the curriculum, coursework and the one-week meet-ups on the campus. The SDSU program specifically focuses on leadership development for busy working professionals, and is delivered online in a small class setting.
The centerpiece of the SDSU master’s curriculum is their Systems Problem Resolution course. In this 12-week period, students will execute an in-company project that will make a material, positive impact on your current company. Newlyn Wing, manager, USTA, and current San Diego State University student, also talked about his in-company project and how it applies to his work.
Jeff Campbell is the former CEO of Burger King and ex-chairman of the Pillsbury Restaurant Group. He has also held the posts of senior vice president for brand development for Pepsi-Cola, as well as CEO of the Johnny Rockets and Catalina Restaurant Groups. Jeff has been teaching at San Diego State University for 14 years and is the director of their master’s in Hospitality and Tourism Management program.
