Sandra S.A. Ponting, Ph.D.
Dr. Ponting has over 15 years of experience in a variety sectors including hospitality and tourism industry research, government planning and policies, and higher education. She has lived and worked in South Korea, Australia, Fiji Islands, and the United States. She is also bilingual in Korean and English.
Her research specialization includes examining organizational identity change, cross-cultural leadership in multinational corporations, professionalization of employees, employee professional identity alignment with organizational culture, national tourism mater planning, and professional certification programs. She has worked with various hospitality organizations including hotel corporations, meetings and events companies, sustainable tourism operators, and casinos. These organizations include Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Sycuan Institute of Tribal Gaming, Visit California, Government of Fiji Islands, and the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Center.
She is currently an Assistant Professor at the L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality and Tourism management, San Diego State University. She teaches undergraduate courses in hospitality and tourism management leadership and research methods.
